This
Turn-of-the-Century "Gibson Girl" gown of ivory silk is entirely handmade
and fully lined and constructed with French handsewing. The blouson bodice
is shaped with the famous Gibson Girl "poof" and the closely fitting skirt
flairs to a gentle semi-train or "sweep" in the back. The waist is accented
with a tight cummerbund and the leg-o-mutton sleeves fit close to the arms
and drape over the wrist.
The bodice front and high wedding-ring
collar are embellished with antique lace and a deep border of hand crochet
lace adorns the hem of the skirt. The gown is easily altered with hidden
tucks in the bodice. It has deep pleats at the waist band.
